Guest Speaker

Bola Awoniyi

"Going mass market is over-rated. Stay small. Stay niche".

Bola will discuss the value of niche over mass market, how the internet makes now the best time to be niche and why your strategy needs to be different if you want to succeed as a niche business.

About

Bola is a marketing consultant advising global businesses on marketing strategy, with 5 years experience in the industry. He’s also a massive basketball fan and WWE fanatic (but don’t tell him we told you).

In addition, Bola co-founded Black Ballad alongside partner, Tobi Oredein which is an innovative, new membership platform with one simple mission - to create a media platform that helps black women in Britain live their best life.

Black Ballad has covered a varied range of topics that include mental health, beauty, careers, politics, disability, dating and higher education - the only common thread among our journalism is that it is written by and for black women.

Being able to capitalise on a niche in a world where everyone is doing something it seems is a real competitive advantage that we can all benefit from. We look forward to having Bola join us at #adzvicepush.

Jamelia will share her story from employee to full-time entrepreneur followed by an exercise and interactive session, followed by tips for those wanting to take a similar path.

Jamelia gave up a successful corporate job to embark on her entrepreneurial journey, and launched TreasureTress in August, 2015.

TreasureTress is the UK’s first subscription box specifically catered to young girls with naturally kinky, curly, coily, frizzy hair. In collaboration with Hair Is Simba, TreasureTress launched The Teen Experience, a popular series of influencer-led workshops for girls aged 12-19.

Speaker

Ade Akins

‘Fundamentals of Brand Building’

Ade lives and sleeps all things brand-related. A marketing graduate and professional with almost 5 years experience across both client-side and client-facing roles, he knows a thing or two about what makes a good brand.

With a distinct enjoyment for collaboration and knowledge sharing, Ade founded Adzvice, the hub for guidance and recommendations. After realising that he and many other content creators had some useful tips to share to an underserved audience (young Black Britain), he set out to bridge that knowledge gap.

Today, Adzvice exists via contributor-led blog posts, the Adzvice Podcast and events with Ade taking a leading role in all. We are delighted that Ade will be joining our lineup of speakers at #adzvicepush and cannot wait for the 29th July.
